Free Jonas Mekas

No, he's not in jail. That's "free" as in not-costing-very-much-at-all. Mekas is an experimental filmmaker whose best known work is "As I Was Moving Ahead Occasionally I Saw Brief Glimpses Of Beauty." By "best known," I mean the-title-I-see-listed-the-most-often-whenever-they-mention-Mekas. For the new year, Mekas is planning to do one short film every day. And for the first day they're available, you can download them for free. It's not really my thing -- a bit Beatnik-y -- but it is fun. And free. Thanks to IRA member George Robinson (he of "Essential Torah" fame) for the tip.
