I still haven't decided if I'll go to the screening of The Pink Panther on Wednesday. Is it really necessary? But the early negative reviews in
Variety and
The Hollywood Reporter have me puzzled. Neither one mentions the opening credit sequence. Surely they haven't dispensed with the animated cartoons that are invariably the best thing about the movies? And if they haven't, did they do such a poor job that it's not even worth mentioning? References to the score -- and a "techno" update of the Henry Mancini theme -- have me appalled and perversely intrigued at the same time.
