Every Movie Released In New York City In 2012

Here is a list of every new film shown commercially in New York City in 2012. (Movies must have screened for one week in the city in a theater where the public could buy a ticket. Thus, film festivals and the like don't count.) It was compiled by Howard Karren, a fellow member of the IRAs (and the person who gave me my first national byline in a story I wrote for Premiere magazine). Here's a link to the IRA Film Awards for last year.  Creating the list is a laborious, demanding task and we are indebted to him for the work.

Some 837 films were shown in the city last year. Only a certifiably crazy person would have seen them all. It began with The Hunter at the IFC Center on January 4 (movies are listed alphabetically on each date) and ended on December 28 with Matt Damon in Promised Land, the second proper script he's written since winning the Oscar for Good Will Hunting. How many did you see? And if you notice any omissions, by all means let us know.
