The LA Film Critics Association announced "Letters From Iwo Jima" is the best film of the year, echoing the choice of the National Board of Review. Most people I know haven't even seen the film yet. Runnerup was "The Queen," which seems an odd choice for the LA critics. (It's British and very mainstream, I thought, and more likely to triumph at the Golden Globes and Oscars than w critics. But what do I know?) I got the email announcement just before 6 p.m. and Hollywood Reporter has the full story.
