Rolling Stone Top Albums Of The Year

I had to stroll way down the list to find some new CDs I need to check out. And no Corinne Bailey Rae or James Hunter? Sad. The top 10:

1. Bob Dylan -- Modern Times
2. Red Hot Chili Peppers -- Stadium Arcadium
3. Sonic Youth -- Rather Ripped
4. TV On The Radio -- Return To Cookie Mountain
5. Ghostface Killah -- Fishscale
6. Cat Power -- The Greatest
7. Clipse -- Hell Hath No Fury
8. The Hold Steady -- Boys and Girls In America
9. Mastadon -- Blood Mountain
10. Tom Waits -- Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers and Bastards

Hey catalyst, I've got dozens of CDs to give one more (or a first) listen to. My car trips down South are my annual last attempt to try out new CDs, give albums that haven't caught on another spin, and listen to favorites one more time. Look for my list of Top Albums and Movies (gotta catch some final flicks in theater on DVD) sometime in early January.

How is Tom Waits only 10?! That's just wrong.

Well, it is a grabbag of a bunch of disparate songs as opposed to a proper, focused album. Some great stuff, but it's all over the map and personally, like most boxed sets it's not something you actually sit down and listen to so much as a resource where you can find great songs that fell through the cracks. Have you ever seen Waits in concert? I haven't and it's beginning to weigh on me.
