Sony Movies Gross $3 Billion Worldwide

Gee, and movie stars are overpaid when they make $25 million on a film? Keep this $3 billion in mind the next time people try to tell you Hollywood is hurting. And remember: this $3 billion is strictly box office grosses. It doesn't include profits from DVDs, cable, TV, satellite, rentals, video on demand and the like. You can guess these movies are worth at least another $2 billion in ancillary markets. Among their big hits: "The Da Vinci Code" ($750 million worldwide at the box office), "Casino Royale" (now estimated to hit $500 million), "Click" (the Adam Sandler movie; yeah, I forgot about it too), and "Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby." Still to come: chick flick "The Holiday" and "The Pursuit Of Happyness," which I predict will be a HUGE moneymaker this holiday season.
