Spielberg Turning Stephen King's "The Talisman" Into Miniseries

It's Spielberg's latest miniseries for TNT: a six hour adaptation of the Stephen King/Peter Straub novel "The Talisman." On my to-do list are several Stephen King novels: the Dark Tower series and the two "Talisman" books (the sequel is "Black House"), both of which I remember getting exceptional reviews. Anyone read them or the Gunslinger books?

I've tried to read The Talisman four times and even tried to listen to it once in audiobook format and I could never get into it. I'm a big King fan, but I don't like all the books he's ever written and The Talisman ranks as one of my least favorite. The Dark Tower series, on the other hand, is some of King's finest work. I devoured every one of them as soon as they were published. Great novels.

Thanks Jimmy. I might try tackling the Talisman once the miniseries gets closer. Do you think Straub was the problem? But I've definitely had my eye on diving into the Dark Tower books. (Probably the revised version of the first one makes sense?)
