ABC Renews "Brothers & Sisters" and "Men In Trees"

You knew "Ugly Betty" was a given, but ABC also just announced they were renewing the on-the-bubble shows "Brothers & Sisters" (which apparently has improved mightily on the creative end since it debuted) and "Men In Trees," another fave of the execs that didn't show much traction in the ratings. "Boston Legal" -- another show that was iffy -- is also back, as are the usual suspects ("Dancing With The Stars," "Desperate Housewives," "Grey's Anatomy" and god help us "The Bachelor"). "Lost" was also a given but unfortunately they didn't announce that season four would be the final season of the show -- that would be the best thing for it creatively and ratings-wise. Here's hoping NBC shows similar faith in "Friday Night Lights."

Man, ABC has really become the Chick Network. Janet watches all their shows on the laptop when I'm busy doing something else. I wonder if there is a trend of housewives time and place shifting those "bubble" shows that is keeping them around.

Well, like any show that gets renewed, they have a loyal core of fans. And definitely the people DVRing them helps -- it shows a real commitment.

I watched the first two episodes of "Brothers & Sisters" and was appalled. Should I give it another look?

I haven't been watching it, but every critic says it has improved a good deal. i may give the last episode or two a shot or start fresh on season two and try again. It's gotta be better than October Road.
