"Who Watches The Watchmen?"
Soon, it might be us. With the massive success of "300," the long-gestating feature film version of Frank Miller's classic "The Watchmen" might actually come together. Again. But since Darren Aronofsky and Terry Gilliam and Paul Greengrass have come and gone, I won't hold my breath.

I feel the need to point out that The Watchmen actually sprung from the mind of Alan Moore (V For Vendetta, From Hell, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen), and is generally considered his masterpiece. Though Moore's work is not an unknown commodity in the realm of successful graphic novel adaptations, the success of films based on the work of Frank Miller certainly serves symbiotically to inspire the making of more movies from edgy, intelligent, and literate graphic novels. Now if only some producer would have the balls to option the rights to Moore's "Lost Girls."
