Arctic Monkeys Win Mercury Prize

Though they were the favorites, I'd call it a surprise since during its short life the Mercury Prize has delighted in doing the unexpected. Very good album, however, so well deserved.

I was listening to Sirius "New UK Music" channel for pre-show info and updates - fun channel if you subscribe. Sorry that we cannot watch the broadcast in the states as it sounds like a fun award show.

Like all awards shows, Mercury is fun because it's new. In ten years time, it'll be corporate and ruined, just like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the MTV Video Music Awards and other "new" events that have become tired. So we should enjoy it while we can. Sadly, I don't subscribe to any satellite radio though Sirius would be my first choice.
