"Blood Diamond" and "The Holiday"
Leonardo DiCaprio is good again in "Blood Diamond," but this movie about conflict diamonds in Africa starts off well as an adventure film with a complicated hero (DiCaprio is an arms merchant) but then the message takes over. "The Holiday" is a chick flick that gives chick flicks a bad name: it's so predictable and dull it makes even Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet seem unappealing. Viewers won't hate it; it's impossible to muster up any emotion whatsoever about a movie so thoroughly mild and unmemorable.
