HBO Tackles Iraq War In Miniseries

I'm excited for a number of reasons. First, this seven hour miniseries comes from HBO. Second, it's based on a nonfiction book "Generation Kills" that grew out of an excellent series of articles done for Rolling Stone. Rolling Stone may not have its mojo when it comes to being in the forefront of music criticism, but it is still on top of its game when it comes to investigative journalism. Rather than tacking the Middle East, the miniseries focuses on the battles between frontline soldiers and military bureaucracy. Finally, I'm most excited because the talent behind it is David Simon and Ed Burns, the two men behind HBO's "The Wire," one of the best TV shows ever made.
