CNN has an interesting story about a cache of food and medical supplies stored within the Brooklyn Bridge during the height of the Cold War. But what I loved was this explanatory sentence towards the end:
"The bridge is a popular landmark that links Manhattan to Brooklyn."
What's next? Referring to the Empire State Building as "a large office building in midtown popular with tourists and monkeys and often seen in films"? Hat tip to alfredboy aka redstateboy aka priv8pete for that story.
