"60 Minutes" Sunday -- John Murtha Says Most Troops Out In 2006

"60 Minutes" this Sunday is turning into a real event. First Olympic hopeful Bode Miller created a stir by joking about the difficulties of skiing drunk -- sounds silly but he's been so rebellious he was almost kicked off the US team and would have had to compete as an American athlete without their support, no easy task. He's apologized.

Now in an interview with Mike Wallace, Rep. John Murtha states the obvious: that will looming midterm elections and a public tired of our troops being killed by the people they're supposed to be liberating, most of them will be home by the end of 2006.
"You're going to see a plan for withdrawal," says Murtha, which he believes Congress will pass because of mounting pressure from constituents tired of the war that could affect the upcoming midterm elections. The political situation will force President Bush to accede to Congress, he says. "I think the political people who give [the president] advice will say to him, 'You don't want a democratic Congress. You want to keep a Republican majority, and the only way you're going to keep it is by reducing substantially the troops in Iraq,'" Murtha says.
