"A Million Little Lies" -- Fallout From Debunked "Memoir"

Will Oprah talk about the revelation that James Frey's memoir -- "A Million Little Pieces" -- has been seriously challenged as a fraud by The Smoking Gun? She turned the acclaimed book into a massive best-seller. Now viewers have posted on Oprah's message board saying how disheartened they are by the author's misleading them and hope she talks about the issue. Publishers Weely says book companies will also be watching her show carefully today at 3 p.m. Oprah ditched living authors at one point after Jonathan Franzen mocked the idea of being selected by her (he could have just politely declined rather than accepting her author and then belittling the process). Oprah turned to John Steinbeck, Faulkner and other safely dead writers. Now, with her first pick of a living writer in years, Oprah has to deal with this. Frey himself will appear on "Larry King Live" tonight. Hollywood is also watching: a movie based on his book was on the fast-track at Warner Bros. but now looks troubled, per the Hollywood Reporter.
