Nicolas Sarkozy is one of the top politicians in France and expected to succeed Chirac as the country's leader. And his dramatic split and reconciliation with his wife Cecilia has made headlines. First she dumped him for a new lover and moved to New York. Nicolas kept begging her to return, but removed his wedding ring and started dating the chief political reporter for Le Figaro. It's as if Laura Bush dumped George then moved to London and he responded by shacking up with CNN's Christiane Amanpour.
Recently, Nicolas and Cecilia made the most dramatic reconciliation possible. Cecilia flew to Charles De Gaulle airport with her lover, but left him stranded on the jet (presumably heartbroken). Nicolas had his limousine speed onto the tarmac so he could greet his wife and son as they rushed off the plane and into his arms. Nicolas dumped the reporter and demanded privacy -- then immediately took his once and future wife shopping and later met her after lunch, all with TV camera crews in tow.
