Weekend Box Office Preview

Lots of bad new movies opening this week. But Box Office Prophets gives a sneak peek at what it thinks will happen to "Children Of Men" (after doing surprisingly well in limited release) and holdover "Dreamgirls." This is the weekend "Dreamgirls" needs to show some stamina while it waits for the January 23 Oscar nominations. And The Hollywood Reporter wisely points out that when you're trying to predict the Oscars, you should pay a lot more attention to the awards from the guilds (like SAP and the Producers and Directors guilds) than to all those dumb ole critics like me. That means I was probably worng about "Babel." It looks like a good bet for a Best Picture nomination after all.
