Overnight TV Ratings --

After weeks of not watching, I checked out "Ugly Betty" last night and found it an enjoyable mix of over-the-top (Rebbeca Romaijn as a transexual) and sweet-natured. Didn't watch much of anything else other than Nashville Star as I prepared for my Farley Granger interview. Yes, "Survivor" beat "Ugly Betty" but not by much and it was down quite a bit from a year ago when Survivor: Panama hit more than 19 million; and "Betty" improved on last week's performance so good news all around. And after one sweet week in the 10 million+ category, "My Name Is Earl" and "The Office" slip back to their typically modest levels. I love 'em, but these are cultish, media hits, not break-out shows. Finally, those claiming "Grey's Anatomy" was taking a hit for Isaiah Washington's bigoted comments look stupider than ever as the show gains in strength. For a complete ratings breakdown, go to MediaWeek's Marc Berman.
