"Wheel Of Fortune" Rolls On
"Wheel Of Fortune" has been on the air in one form or another for 31 years. Why it succeeds isn't the mystery they make it out to be. The hosts are affable, anyone can play the game and -- here's the kicker -- it works with the sound off, meaning you can play along when watching it at the gym or listening to music on headphones or someone in the house is yapping away. It also helps to be paired with Jeopardy, another show with similar appeal. The talent behind both is Merv Griffin, who has a new gameshow launching this fall built around crossword puzzles. Knowing him, it'll probably be on the air 20 years from now and he'll be richer than ever.
