Rouhg Time For British Films In UK

It's been a rough few weeks for British films in the UK. "Alex Rider: Stormbreaker" did so-so at the box office (and then flopped in the US). Ridley Scott's romantic comedy with Russell Crowe -- "A Good Year" -- got poor reviews and opened weekly. And "The History Boys" opened strongly but looks like it is coming to a quick halt after three weeks, with about $6 million total. The one bright spot is "The Queen." It's made $14 mil in the UK, is already at $6 mil in the US and looks very likely to double or triple that, at least, with awards season sure to give it a long life in the theaters. Here's the latest chart on the UK box office.
