Joss Whedon Leaves "Wonder Woman"

Joss Whedon, the guy behind "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," seemed like the perfect talent to revive Wonder Woman and make her cool. Now he's off the project. One big problem in my mind? The producers are determined to make it a contemporary film when Wonder Woman works much better against the backdrop of World War II (plus, you get Nazis!). Plus, JJ Abrams probably won't be directing the new "Star Trek" movie. Hollywood Reporter gives a rundown of all the franchises in development and what's happening with them. Or you can turn to the Daily News, where I give a modest look at how studios keep franchises going.
