Best-selling Memoir Dissolves Into A Million Little Lies
James Frey -- the author of the acclaimed "A Million Little Pieces" -- admitted to The Smoking Gun that he embellished central elements of his purported criminal career for dramatic purposes. TSG discovered Frey doing much more than that, calling into question many of the book's melodramatic events and digging up police records that contradict a central event in his story. As TSG says, for a guy who so desperately wants to be seen as exposing every dirty little secret in his memoir, Frey sure clams up good. Does Oprah feel duped? (She turned it into one of the biggest hits of the year.) Do you?
