Dir. Robert Altman To Get Honorary Oscar

Long overdue. Altman's best chance for an Oscar was probably 2001, when he delivered the delightful British treat "Gosford Park" but lost out to "A Beautiful Mind" and Ron Howard. If Altman couldn't win with that charmer, he may never win. So an honorary Oscar seems fitting, even though he's still going strong. Don't be surprised to see Altman competing again in 2007 after he delivers "A Prairie Home Companion" this June with Meryl Streep, Woody Harrelson, John C. Reilly, Tommy Lee Jones, Lily Tomlin and of course Garrison Keillor.
