The early reviews are in for gay playwright Douglas Carter Beane's new comedy "The Little Dog Laughed," the story of a closeted movie star, the rent boy who loves him (Johnny Galecki) and the rapacious agent who isn't interested in seeing her commissions collapse to further some noble cause (the scene-stealing Julie White).
The New York Times: calls it the best homegrown comedy in NYC since Beane scored a triumph with "As Bees In Honey Drown" in 1997. Everyone is praised, but White is singled out. With a rave like this, the show will be running for a while.
The Hollywood Reporter: found the show less enthralling, especially when it got serious, but had nice things to say about Galecki and especially White.
