Welcome AMERICAbloggers!

You're the first invited to this pop culture blog. I've been testing the system for a week, so you'll find a ton of postings to comb through that no one has seen before. I'd love your feedback. Let me know what works, what doesn't, what you'd like to see more of and what should be dropped. And of course, please come back next week and pass along this link to your friends. I'll be working hard to make this the most useful, informative, smart and wide-ranging pop culture blog out there.

Thanks Carolyn13. Let me know your favorite features while I try to figure out what works and what doesn't. And please share the link!

I've read through most of your posts and I don't really see anything that needs improving. The site functions well and your writing is excellent as always. I like the insider's knowledge you seem to be bringing to your subjects. (Dr. Who is coming to SciFi Friday? Yay.)
I've got to go. The blind swordsman is on IFC. That's why I'm up so early.

I'd love for Richboy to post about Project Runway, my only reality show habit. I'm more interested in what the real story is about last year's winner Jay than this year's stinker of a show.

PS If I comment here often, I"m going to have to set up a new blogger account. I can't remember my old password.

You should add a link to your bio at Americablog. And the bee in my bonnet this week is that you should also tell John to include his other contributors' bios on the side.

As for your new blog, Michael, I say mazel tov!

This is not meant as a mean criticism, but I want to pass along the best piece of journalistic advice I ever got: "Write short. You'll get published more." You're now your own publisher, but I think the advice still stands.

Good luck!

Carolyn13, I love Zatoichi too.
Richboy was away this week, so he's catching up with all his reality TV as we speak (and I'm in trouble for failing to save the Bachelor in Paris premiere he wanted to watch). Look for his comments when new episodes begin. Project Runway is his current favorite guilty pleasure.

Ed, I link to my full bio under "Who are the Popsurfers?" I suggest you mention your desire for full bios on the other Americabloggers on his site -- he always appreciates feedback and I've wondered who some of them are myself (I've never met anyone but John).

As for short posts -- you're very right. And then I just went and did a long post on iceskating. Weekends I might go a few graphs because there's much less to post on. But I will try to maintain brevity. My goal is usually to have the headline of the previous posting still visible.
