"The Dangerous Stranger" Is Dead

Filmmaker Sid Davis is dead. A one-time body double for John Wayne, Davis specialized in cheapo public service films, the sort that warned kids away from darn near everything worth doing: playing with scissors, flying kites in the rain and of course sex and drugs and (presumably) rock n roll. The New York Times has a nice obit and the titles alone will make you hunger for a glimpse of his work: "The Bottle and the Throttle," "Why Take Chances?" (why indeed?), "Alcohol Is Dynamite" (confusing, that one), "Gang Boy," "Girls Beware" and even "Keep Off The Grass."
