Grammy Predictions

Album: Paul McCartney (a crazy, long-shot Steely Dan upset-- Kanye is too cocky, they don't like Mariah and U2 peaked too soon. Mind you, this one is VERY hard to call.)
Record: Mariah Carey "We Belong Together"
Song: Mariah Carey "We Belong Together"
New Artist: John Legend
Rock Album: U2
Alternative Album: Arcade Fire
Rap Album: Kanye West
Country Album: Brad Paisley (the only male; lots of crossover attention)
Best R&B Album: John Legend
Best Bluegrass Album: The Grascals (but really probably Del McCoury)
Best Jazz Vocal Album: Dianne Reeves
Best Jazz Instrumental Album: Wynton Marsalis
Best Musical Show Album: The Light in the Piazza
Pop Female Vocal: Kelly Clarkson
Pop Male Vocal: Paul McCartney
Best Traditional Pop Album: Michael Buble (first newbie since Connick)

No one could be more overdue than McCartney but I think Mariah is the comeback story of the year.

I'm guessing Steely Dan will win Best Album for the same reasons Mick Fleetwood always won "Best Drummer" in the Playboy Magazine poll. I don't know those reasons, but I stand by them.
