Overnight TV Ratings -- No One Likes "List"

The most-anticipated game show of the year -- according to Fox -- was "The Rich List." No one told "1 Vs. 100." That Friday night game show has proven a self-starter while "The Rich List" tanked last night. And no wonder: it takes FOREVER for anything to happen on this show, with what amounts to a half hour's worth of game stretched out to an hour. Meanwhile, I taped "Lost," started to watch it and got so bored during the recaps that I realized I was happier NOT watching the show anymore. Call me when the series finale takes place. "30 Rock" barely beat "Top Model" while "20 Good Years" lost and they both lost in the all-important 18-49 demo. That is disastrous and it won't change when they move "30 Rock" to Thursday. Here are the overnights per MediaWeek's Marc Berman:

8 p.m.
1. Dancing With The Stars (ABC) -- 19.21 million viewers
2. Jericho (CBS) -- 9.96 mil
3. Bones (FOX) -- 7.38 mil
4. America's Next Top Model (CW) -- 4.42 mil
5. 30 Rock (NBC) -- 4.83 mil/20 Good Years (NBC) -- 4.24 mil

9 p.m.
1. Criminal Minds (CBS) -- 16.74 mil
2. Lost (ABC) -- 16.12 mil
3. The Biggest Loser (NBC) -- 7.84 mil
4. The Rich List (FOX) -- 4.14 mil
5. One Tree Hill rerun (CW) -- 2.5 mil

10 p.m.
1. CSI: NY (CBS) -- 16.48 mil
2. Dateline (NBC) -- 7.12 mil
3. The Nine (ABC) -- 6.68 mil

Surely you'll tune into next week's "Quarter-Season" Finale of Lost, right?

With the exception of the two new characters (Paolo and Nicki I think), I thought last night's episode was fantastic.

The scenes with Jack, Ben, and Juliette are really carrying the show right now in my opinion, and I love that the writers have given Locke his mojo back.

Aren't you curious to know what happened after you stopped watching (or do you already know?)?

I've certainly read spoilers. Do you think last night's episode was an improvement over the beginning of this season or have you liked it all? And you're right -- I wouldn't miss the Half-Season Finale for anything. But I really think the show is going to be hurt by going on hiatus for the awful Day Break. It'll be interesting to see if they can pick right back up where they left off. I assume Dancing w the Stars will be off the air by then but I don't know what it's replacement is.

I've enjoyed the entire season, but I definitely feel that the last two episodes have picked up the pace in terms of both action and quality.

I expect next week to be fantastic and leaving viewers wanting more.
Then I expect ABC to air roughly 9 billion commercials in the the month before the next episode (along with a clips show) to remind everyone that A. LOST IS BACK!!! and B. NO REPEATS!!!

I think anyone that's watched the first 2+ seasons will stick around and I wouldn't be surprised if the no repeats schtick grabs a few more.

You're right though that the loss of Dancing with the Stars as a lead-in will hurt, but in my opinion not as much as possibly going up against American Idol results shows (any idea if they'll be airing at 8:00 or 9:00 on Wednesdays?.

Not sure yet what Fox is planning re Idol, but you can be certain they'll air as many two hour specials, extended results shows, etc as possible. The break combined with that possible combination ain't gonna help. But you're probably right that this is where it'll stay for the season unless fans really revolt over the extended break or find the cliffhanger unsatisfying. But their ratings are down 25% from last year, so staying level isn't much of a triumph. Unlike 24, it seems like everyone season brings back fewer people because the storyline is so convoluted you don't feel capable of diving in.
