"Pirates:" Box Office Records, Ahoy!

"Pirates of the Caribbean" was through the roof, earning $54.8 milon Friday alone. (That includes the roughly $12 mil from midnight screenings.) That's more than "Superman Returns" earned during its entire three day weekend. It's certain to bust through the three-day record of "Spiderman" and the four day record of "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith." It will stand triumphant -- at least until next summer when "Spidey 3" opens. "Superman Returns" took a big hit of course, as did "Prada" (which I still think will have legs). $100 mil in TWO days? $130 mil in three days? Get to the movies and help make history! Aargh.
