Pregnancy Of ABC News Anchor Is GOOD News?

I'm sure on a personal level everyone at ABC News is delighted to hear that World News Tonight co-anchor Elizabeth Vargas is pregnant. It's a lot better news than hearing about anchors dying or being wounded in Iraq. But surely on a practical business level, this is NOT good news for ABC. Peter Jennings is gone, Bob Woodruff is seriously wounded with not even a hint of full recovery much less a return date to the air. And now their sole anchor is three months pregnant? That's just another disruption they don't need. Say hello to Charlie Gibson -- always there when they need him.

She's going to have to take off at least a little time and they can't be pleased, no matter what they say. Talk about bad timing.

I thought the same thing. I imagine they considered it too impolitic to say.
