"Casino Royale" -- The Variety Review

In case you can't read the link, they give Daniel Craig a big thumbs up, admit this movie won't reach the commercial heights of the last few Pierce Brosnan flicks (not even close, I'd say), and say the film does drag a bit. But all in all, a clear and positive step in the right direction, with says that Craig "comes closer to the author's original conception of this exceptionally long-lived male fantasy figure than anyone since early Sean Connery."

I can't remember being this excited for a Bond movie. Maybe the first Brosnan version, but that was just because I was happy to see a Bond movie in the theater (I was 15). This time I'm looking forward to it actually being a good film. Also glad to see Daniel Craig getting such good reviews as I was very pleased when he was announced as the next Bond, then disappointed when he was unfairly villified in the ensuing months.

Whatever the film's flaws, I don't think anyone will complain about Craig.
