Sling Your TV Onto Your Treo

I still don't have a SlingBox yet (I really want my sister in London to buy one so I can watch UK TV whenever I want). And now the stuff is gonna be accessible on any computer you have access to AND even your Treo. Just like DVRs and VCRs brought about "time-shifting" (the ability for you to watch TV when YOU want), slingbox allows for "place-shifting," the ability for you to watch your TV programming anywhere in the world, as long as you have access to a computer with broadband or even just your Treo.

If I was grading my slingbox I would give it a C+. Though the picture is pretty good, its rather clunky and the on screen remote control is hard to maneuver. I place it in the "oh yeah" category of gadgets I have..meaning... "Oh yeah I forgot about the slingbox and Oh yeah I should use that slingbox more often". To make matters worse, after much deliberation I settled on a Blackberry instead of a Treo for my new PDA. If I went with the Treo my slingbox might have actually been useful...just my luck.

What do you use your slingbox for? Do you travel a lot? I was just so impressed when my friend was at his brother's (who doesn't own a TV) and in five minutes was able to download software and have us watching post-season Mets action on their computer. And for gaining access to TV in the UK, it seems the best option. The picture can't be any worse than YouTube, is it, cause that's my only source for UK tv tidbits at the moment.

Actually I got my sling box originally to watch TV in my home office. I didn't feel like mounting a screen.

Well, during the baseball season I watch the Yanks on my laptop (which I place on the fireplace hearth) and then watch something from Netflix with the Misses. Outside of that I've used it to watch the World Cup while at work or Yankee day games, so for me it allows me to continue to watch sports live while I time-shift my other viewing habits.
