Rufus Wainwright's New Album

I'm a big fan of Rufus Wainwright, so I'm intrigued to hear his new album is produced by Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys. It's due out in May and includes Richard Thompson as a guest musician. Does this indicate a more poppy sound for his new CD and a desire to dominate the charts and have the blockbuster album Rufus believes he is destined to deliver? (Certainly musically it doesn't get much better than his debut and "Want One," especially, but Wainwright would LOVE a smash hit.) Rufus recreated Judy Garland's Carnegie Hall show recently (he'll perform the same set in London and Paris) and now he's tackling her Hollywood Bowl show on Sept 23.

Speaking of Judy Garland, There is a popular new group on Yahoo called THE JUDY GARLAND EXPERIENCE.The group has rare audio files, photo's, lively discussions, and more! They just don't feature Judy exclusively. This week one of the audio files they are featuring is a recording of Tallulah Bankhead trying to make a record, and she can't sing, I mean the girl really can't sing!. Besides that, she is explicit, offensive, politically incorrect, and of course, wonderful. It's only about 8 minutes long but you get the full force of Tallulah's over the top personality. You should check it out. And if you are a Judy fan you have to definitely pay the site a visit.

Somehow, I can't get offended by ads for other people's sites when they've clearly gone to the effort of looking for timely mentions of their favorite topic. As an aside, Hitchock expert Dr. Drew Casper of USC mentioned casually that Hitch really loved Tallulah and anyone who was sort of odd or strange or over the top or had "secrets."
