Sirius and XM Merge
The New York Times says the announcement was made today. I think the merger should go through. They're not going to be a monopoly on satellite radio. They're going to be a viable business that competes with free over the air radio, digital radio, cable radio, online streaming of radio stations, podcasts and lots of others. This is the only way satellite radio can become a viable alternative with current technology. That may change in the future, just like phone companies and DirectTV can challenge your local cable monopoly. But this merger makes sense and should go forward for the simple fact that it's so expensive to launch satellites that two companies would just bleed each other to death.
