Capt. Jack Sparrow Vs. Spidey

Will "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" (or "POTC: DMC") beat the three-day record of $114 mil held by "Spiderman?" The Hollywood Reporter says it will be tough, Box Office Prophets says it might just do it and Variety says "Aye, me hearties!" I say, maybe not quite: "Spidey" had rapturous reviews and a shorter running time; "POTC: DMC" has decidedly mixed reviews (like the original) and a 2 1/2 hour running time, not that running time matters so much in the multiplex world we live in. It'll certainly be close. But I'm more interested in what sort of hit "Superman Returns" takes (the midweek drop was scary so the bottom could fall out from under it) and how well "The Devil Wears Prada" holds up (very well indeed, I bet).
