Scavenger Hunt!

I'm off to Central Park for a scavenger hunt with my brother Chris and his wife Deborah. I've done a few of these events through Watson Adventures -- created and run by a friend -- and they're terrific fun. The last time my team won, so wish us luck.

I was wondering, is their a way to find out local cable ratings? (I want to see the ratigns for the Boston Bruins games on NESN)

Cable ratings even at a national level are hard to get. I'm usually dependant on waiting for the channel itself to send out a press release. Every Wednesday, USA Today releases the weekly Nielsen ratings and they include a box with the top 15 cable shows. That's my primary source for cable rating info. Sometimes the channel itself will announce ratings, but only when it behooves them to do so. Hence, SciFi has been very quiet about the not-so-hot ratings for the new season of "Battlestar: Galactica," which are very disappointing. Pay cable is even harder -- I almost never see a ratings report on "Dexter," "The Wire," et al. In this case, no news is bad news. For LOCAL ratings? I'm not teling you anything you don't already know, but if the local cable channel wanted to tout some good numbers, you might find a mention in the TV or sports section of the Boston Globe. Other than an occasional mention there, I can't think of any way for you to get that info on a regular basis. A reporter might be able to call local advertisers and get them to fess up on how the shows were tracking, etc., but for the general public I'm afraid you're out of luck.
