Big TV Week Coming Up

Next week, TV returns full blast: you've got the four hour season premiere of "24," the four hour season premiere of "American Idol," "Rome," "Extras," and most every network show switching from repeats to fresh episodes. My DVR is looking haggard already. Go to MediaWeek's Marc Berman for a complete rundown of the overnight ratings. But last night "My Name Is Earl" and "The Office" both broke 10 million in viewers for the first time in ages. But "Scrubs" and especially "30 Rock" dropped the ball. "Ugly Betty" won its timeslot, "Grey's Anatomy" scored almost 23 million, and "ER" may be improving on its very weak lead-in, but 12 million against a repeat of "Shark" is still very poor indeed.
