High School Musicals: In Concert and On Broadway

The NYTimes reviews "High School Musical: In Concert," the touring version of the hit TV movie with most of the cast members singing songs from the show and their solo albums. I too find the sexualization of kids annoying, which is why it's disappointing that a stage show spun off from the squeaky clean movie would seem tarted up. But as for them being dismayed that all the stars sang songs from their solo albums as well as the show, well, duh. If all they sang were songs from the show, the concert would be over in 40 minutes. And "Grease: You're The One That I Want" may have been a third place mini-flop on NBC Sunday, but tickets for the Broadway revival have hit $1.3 million in two days. Since no stars are attached to the show, that's pretty darn good. This might just pay off for the show's backers, if not NBC>
