Spend More Time At "The Office"

The online version of the show available at nbc.com now contains a "producer's cut" that is a few minutes longer. This is actually annoying, since fans of "The Office" should appreciate that the show is a carefully crafted series -- if something is left out of the show, there's usually a very good reason. Just throwing on scraps to make it longer can ruin the rhythm of a very delicate machine. A few extra beats and a funny joke becomes tiresome.

Or a B story line can be developed properly when it had to be cut down to fit into 22 minutes originally.

Oh I KNEW you would object. I'd say in general it's very, very hard to make a good 22 minute sitcom. Whenever NBNC supersized Thursday or had an hour long Friends you could see how painful and strained it was. More is not necessarily better. With comedy, less almost always is.

I can think of one blog where less is better...
