Il Divo, Yellowcard (and Disney!) On New Billboard Chart

As we told you yesterday, Il Divo tops the new Billboard album chart. (They're the "popera" group -- a brianchild of Simon Cowell -- that gives mock operatic treatment to pop songs.) Also on the chart, maturing pop punk band Yellowcard at Number Five, media darling Cat Power with the highest debut of her career at Number 34 and good ole Kenny Rogers at Number 24 with 21 Number One Hits. (The very first cassette I ever bought was Kenny Rogers' Greatest Hits, so no jokes about "The Gambler," please.)The big news on the singles chart? Disney. Yep, Disney. The cable channel just aired a TV movie -- High School Musical -- that exploded in the ratings for them. Now it's exploding on the charts. Four singles debut in the Top 40, including the duet "Start Of Something New" between Zac Efron and Vanessa Anne Hudgens. The soundtrack album jumps from #58 to the Top Ten. Expect a sequel and a lot more musicals from Disney.
