Overnight TV Ratings

Survivor: Panama got off to a solid start with 19+ million viewers, but Dancing With The Stars didn't miss a step, scoring almost 18 million viewers itself. The biggest hit of the night was CSI with 28 million viewers. (My Name Is Earl and The Office did fine with about 10 million viewers each, but it's a far cry from NBC's Thursday heyday when every other network ran screaming in terror.) ER's stunt casting with James Woods didn't help much -- its 13.7 million was second to Without A Trace's 20.8 million. Everybody Hates Chris was fine too, as was Smallville and Beauty and the Geek 2. But everything else on UPN was flat, the very unfunny Crumbs (starring Fred Savage) collapsed, as did Will & Grace and Three Kings.
