BBC Poll Results: The Sounds Of 2007

The BBC has done an excellent poll of industry pros and critics for the past few years and their track record at predicting the breakout bands of the coming year has been excellent. Modt of the attention naturally focuses on their top picks (in past years including Corinne Bailey Rae, Keane, 50 Cent and lone misfire The Bravery). But their entire top 10 for each year has proven a great guide to bands I want to keep an eye on. And with links to songs by all of them, you can start deciding right away who you think is cool. This year's poll is out and the #1 pick is Mika. Since his music is dance pop a la Scissor Sisters and Queen), I don't necessarily expect him to break in the US the way Corinne Bailey Rae has, but he's certainly a talent to watch. The Times of London has along profile of him already. The Top 10 new acts to watch in 2007, per the BBC poll:

1. Mika
2. The Twang
3. Klaxons
4. Sadie Ama
5. Enter Shakari
6. Air Traffic
7. Cold War Kids
8. Just Jack
9. Ghosts
10. The Rumble Strips
