Dave Chappelle: I Felt Like A Prostitute

Dave Chappelle went on Oprah and said he hated the work environment at Comedy Central and that he felt like a prostitute when he went there. He also says he wasn't going mental or doing drugs but admits people wanted him to take psychotic medication (presumably ANTI-psychotic medication). That certainly doesn't make sense. People around Chappelle tried to force him to take medication because they thought he was sane and stable? He had complete creative control at Comedy Central -- as anyone who watched his show will surely believe. (He's never claimed they tried to censor him or screamed about deadlines.) And Comedy Central was ready and willing to delay as long as it took for Chappelle to feel comfortable. If he wanted to take 18 months between seasons, fine. It worked for The Sopranos. He says he'd only come back and do more episodes under "certain circumstances," such as donating a portion of DVD sales to charity. Dude, you can donate the entire $50 million of the contract you signed to charity if you want. No one is stopping you. Seems to me he just wigged out under the stress and no shame in that. Comedy Central plans to show four episodes this spring from the skits he filmed.
