"Jump In' Scores Huge Ratings

The Disney Channel is basically unstoppable right now. It's got such a huge audience for current hits like "Hannah Montana" and those endless reruns of "High School Musical" that any new series or movie it promotes has a huge leg up on the competition. Nonetheless, the better-than-average TV movie "Jump In" (about competitive double dutch jump roping) did stellar numbers last Friday. I wrote about the movie and its star Corbin Bleu (a nice Christian lad, as you can see from his online journal and a "HSM" alum) for the NY Daily News over the holidays. His movie drew 8.2 million viewers (a record for Disney Channel) and at least two songs from the soundtrack have jumped onto iTunes and the soundtrack debuted at #5 on Billbaord's Top 200.
