Cowboy Junkies Set To Celebrate "Trinity Sessions"

My God, has it been almost 20 years since "The Trinity Sessions" came out? The only platinum album by Cowboy Junkies, it's a real charmer with their wonderful originals standing next to remarkable cover versions of songs like "I'm So Lonesome, I Could Cry." The album was recorded rather famously in an old church in one day, with one microphone and a DAT recorder, adding to the album's intimate air and special aura. Terrific songwriter Michael Timmins (who writes such acute and perceptive songs -- especially about women -- that I've often wondered if he were gay) says unconvincingly that they want to celebrate the album without trying to recreate it. That would be more convincing if they weren't planning to record a concert at the same space. Uh, that sure sounds like they're trying to recreate the magic. But who knows, maybe lightning will strike twice.
