Oprah's Stamp of Disapproval Doesn't Hurt Frey
Oprah's condemnation of James Frey hasn't hurt book sales. You'd think people would feel stupid buying a pack of lies labeled as "memoir," but his new hardcover My Friend Leonard -- about the mobster Frey befriended when he spent three months in prison, except now we know Frey never went to prison -- is at Number 4 on the New York Times bestseller list and A Million Little Pieces is at Number Two on the nonfiction paperback list, right behind Oprah's latest pick, Elie Wiesel's Night. At least some things on the list make sense: Stephen King debuts at Number One with his latest post-retirement book The Cell.

I feel stupid even keeping his book on my shelf.
