They did it with the lowest sales total since SoundScan started tracking sales, but #1 is #1 and that's exactly where the "Dreamgirls" soundtrack is sitting this week on the Billboard album charts. It's great timing for the movie, which is hoping to convince Oscar voters both that it's a heavyweight contender AND an underdog making good. The chugging along box office is one good sign; topping the Billboard charts is certainly another. The Top 10 per Billboard:
