Get Ready For "Borat" Part Two

"Borat" is going to be huge at the box office -- and full credit to director Larry Charles of "Curb Your Enthusiasm," who lets Borat be Borat and does a great job of maintaining the faux reality. Here's a Q&A with Borat in the Times of London. Here's Borat attacking Uzbekistan (one of the movie's great running jokes is Kazakhstan's hatred of Uzbekistan -- a better mockery of mindless nationalism and hatred of others is hard to imagine) -- and here is a rather dry essay on his impact. It confuses a bit what Borat does: the LA Times writer focuses on wondering why people don't react to Borat's outrageous comments when the most damning aspect of his act is how Borat's casual anti-Semitism and gay-bashing draws out similar comments from ordinary Americans again and again.
